Sen. Ted Cruz says the Senate's impeachment trial could potentially last for two months.

During a Fox News appearance Sunday, Cruz said the trial might last for just "one to two weeks". But if the Senate decides to call witnesses, things could drag on for "six to eight weeks or even longer".

The Senate trial formally began last Thursday when the articles of impeachment were delivered, but the trial proper is set to begin Tuesday at 1pm.
