The Guardians came into Saturday afternoon's game looking to sweep the Rays and advance to the divisional round, but the Rays were ready for a battle. Both starters looked untouchable through the first five innings, with the defenses shining behind them. The Guardians loaded up the bases in the 6th inning with n outs, but the Rays were able to tip-toe out of it unscathed. The pitcher's duel all the way into the 15th inning, when Oscar Gonzalez stepped into the box. Oscar jumped on the second pitch he saw, sending a no-doubter over the left field wall for a walk-off clinching home run, sending the Rays home with a 1-0 victory.

Cleveland starter Tristan Mackenzie was untouchable in the most important start of his young career. Mackenzie tossed 6 innings of shutout baseball giving up just two total hits. The Guardians' bullpen was also fantastic, providing an unfathomable 9 innings of scoreless relief.

The Guardians will celebrate the night away before preparing for a best of 5 series against the New York Yankees in the American League Divisional Round. The New York Yankees finished the regular season with a record of 99-63, the second-best record in the American League.
