CLEVELAND, OH--- The Guardians were swept on Easter Sunday by the Giants, with the final score of the game being 8-1. The Guardians came into the game still struggling with defense and leaving runners in scoring position, and those same struggles continued this afternoon.
So far on the season, the Guardians are 2 for 22 with runners in scoring position. The Giants just had the Guardians' number today, especially Thario Estrada. He started early, in the top of the 2nd inning, by hitting a 2-run home run, bringing in Wilmer Flores to score. Then again he brought in a run on a ground out to shortstop, batting in Joc Pederson and Brandon Crawford in the top of the 4th. He once again brought in Pederson in the top of the 6th on an RBI double in the top of the 6th. In that same inning, Estrada came to score off a Steven Duggar line-drive single over second base. Brandon Belt had the Giants' second 2 run home run in the next inning bringing in Austin Slater. On a positive note for the Guardians, Austin Hedges broke his cold streak batting, hitting an RBI single in the bottom of the 7th scoring Ahmed Rosario, that being the only Guardians run of the afternoon. The Guardians finished with 6 hits, those coming from Myles Straw, Jose Ramirez, Ernie Clement, Bobby Bradley, Oscar Mercado, and Austin Hedges.
The Guardians are scheduled to play tomorrow, starting AL Central play against the White Sox. Rain is looming in the forecast though, not looking good for the 6:10 first pitch where we're supposed to see Triston McKenzie on the mound.
