Last week, a UPS driver identified as Mr. Perez in Haines City, Florida, helped rescue two children, a two-year-old and a six-month-old, after their guardian was accidentally locked out of their home. According to the Haines City Police Department, Perez lifted a garage door halfway to try to get into the house. Officer Gregory Newell arrived shortly after, and Perez explained the situation to him.
Body camera footage released by the police shows Officer Newell breaking through a locked door inside the garage to get into the house. Together with Perez and the guardian, they found the children inside, startled but unharmed. Police say the children were safe and no injuries were reported.
The department praised Mr. Perez on social media, calling his actions an example of going "above and beyond." They publicly thanked him for his quick thinking and support in a critical moment.
