On Saturday afternoon, a good Samaritan in Evansville, Indiana, helped stop a dangerously intoxicated driver before he could hurt anyone. Evansville Police received multiple 911 calls reporting a white pickup truck swerving and nearly hitting several cars. Fortunately, a concerned citizen was able to stop the vehicle and remove the keys to prevent any further danger.

When officers arrived, they found the male driver showing clear signs of impairment and placed him in custody. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors determined his blood-alcohol content was five times the legal limit. Because of the severity of his condition, the driver was admitted to the hospital overnight for treatment.

Police later arrested him on charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and driving without ever having received a license. Authorities commended the bystander’s actions, which likely prevented serious harm.
