A group of high school students recently rescued a family from a house fire while the teens were returning from prom. After leaving the dance early to meet friends, Aiden Kane, Morgan Randall, Donato Jellenichr, and Tyler Sodj spotted a garage fire in Marcy, New York. Aiden’s girlfriend Morgan first noticed the flames, prompting the group to stop and help. Donato called 911, Tyler ran to check the fire, and Aiden knocked on the front door.
Cell cam footage taken by the teens shows Aiden alerting the family and helping them safely evacuate. A young girl opens the door, and Aiden tells her, “Your house is on fire.” He then guides the children to safety while their father exits the house and confirms no one else was inside. “I grabbed the girls, ran them across the street to where my girlfriend comforted them,” Aiden says.
Tyler describes hearing explosions as the fire intensified. “If Aiden didn't go up there and get those people out, I think that the fire could have spread,” he says. Maynard Fire Chief Jared Pearl says that the students’ quick actions likely prevented a more dangerous situation. Their brave actions helped save a family and made for the most memorable prom night ever!
