At least two people were killed and 20 families displaced amid damaging tornadoes in the Saturday (April 25) night in northern Texas, authorities announced via the Associated Press.

At least one person died and numerous homes were damaged in Runaway Bay, where emergency responders cleared debris and gave medical care to the victims, according to Wise County Judge J.D. Clark, who also serves as the county's chief executive.

“Access has been difficult due to blocked roadways and downed utilities, but crews have continued pushing forward to reach those in need,” Clark said via the Associated Press.

A second person was reported to have died south of the city limits of Springtown, where there was "significant damage" in the area, according to Parker County Assistant Fire Chief David Pruitt via email.

“One of the most significant ongoing challenges is the widespread power outage affecting many residents,” Pruitt wrote.

An EF-2 tornado touched down in the Runaway Bay area with winds peaking at 135 MPH, according to the National Weather Service. An EF-1 tornado was confirmed in the Springtown area with maximum winds reported at 105 MPH, according to the weather service.

A brewing severe weather outbreak with potential for tornadoes, large hail and damaging hail is expected to target more than 55 million people in the Midwest and Mississippi Valley on Monday (April 27), FOX Weather reports. Monday's outbreak has the potential to bring dangerous supercells capable of more severe weather, according to the FOX Forecast Center.

NOAA's Storm Prediction Center has issued a level 3 out of 5 risk for severe storm threat in the Midwest and Mississippi Valley, which includes Missouri, Wisconsin and Iowa, while St. Louis, Missouri has the potential to be among the hardest area it. A level 2 out of 5 risk has been issued for parts of the Central Plains through the Ohio Valley and into the Southeast, which includes Chicago, Illinois; Indianapolis, Indiana; Memphis, Tennessee and Little Rock, Arkansas.

The severe weather outbreak is expected to begin Monday afternoon prior to a cold front and dryline, according to the FOX Forecast Center. The storms are expected to hit warm, most, and unstable air, which will increase the likelihood for severe weather.
