Life in prison is the order for a man who confessed to a mistaken identity murder in Akron.

Jontae Watkins pleaded no contest in October to the 2023 death of Ernestine Stallings.

Prosecutors said Watkins shot the victim six times in the back outside a Dollar Tree because he mistakenly believed Stallings was responsible for the death of Watkins' girlfriend in a shooting the previous year.

Sentencing was ordered this week, and Watkins will be eligible for parole after serving 33 years.
