Governor Mike DeWine has approved up to $25 million in food assistance for Ohioans facing SNAP benefit loss.
The plan directs $7 million to food banks statewide and up to $18 million in emergency relief for over 63,000 residents.
Low-income families receiving Ohio Works First benefits will see doubled payments and weekly supplements while SNAP remains unavailable.
DeWine said the move offers short-term relief but urged Congress to restore federal funding.
Nearly 1.4 million Ohioans rely on SNAP each month.
