A Canton police officer who was fired after allegations of excessive force is getting his job back.

In May of last year, Officer Nicholas Casto deployed his K-9 on a man during a traffic stop on 16th Street Northwest.

That man sustained injuries after being bitten by the K-9. Casto was later dismissed but has now regained his position — along with back pay — through an arbitrator’s decision.

The City of Canton plans to appeal that ruling.
