Amish Woman Charged In Death Of Young Son Now In Jail

An Amish woman accused of killing her young son in Tuscarawas County is now sitting in jail.

Authorities say that 40-year-old Ruth Miller tells them she was acting at God's direction when she threw the four-year-old off of a pier and into Atwood Lake on or around August 24th.

The woman's husband and three older children all went through so-called water-based trials at the lake, with those other children surviving and the husband drowning.

Miller -- facing charges including aggravated murder -- had been hospitalized since the date of the child's death, but has now been released from the hospital and booked into the Tuscarawas County Jail.
