No Charges In Deadly Akron Police Shooting

Grand jurors have decided not to move forward with any charges in connection with a deadly 2024 Akron Police shooting.

Fifty-four-year-old Michael Jones was shot during the investigation of a stolen U-Haul in Kenmore on August 17th of last year and died at the scene.

Responding to the news that no indictments are being approved, Akron Mayor Shammas Malik says the police department will conduct an internal investigation to determine if any policies or procedures were violated.
