A Colorado jury has found dentist James Craig guilty of murdering his wife, Angela Craig, by poisoning her with a mix of chemicals. The verdict, reached on Wednesday (July 30), concluded a trial that revealed a chilling plot involving protein shakes and hospital visits.

Prosecutors accused Craig of poisoning his wife over ten days in March 2023. When initial attempts failed, he allegedly administered a fatal dose of cyanide while she was hospitalized in suburban Denver. Angela Craig, 43, was declared brain dead soon after. Toxicology tests confirmed her death was due to cyanide and tetrahydrozoline poisoning, a substance found in eye drops, with arsenic as a contributing factor.

Craig faced charges of first-degree murder, solicitation to commit murder, and solicitation to commit perjury, among others. Prosecutors claimed he sought to escape a marriage he felt trapped in without facing divorce, which could have affected his finances and reputation. They also accused him of trying to cover up the crime by asking others, including his daughter and jail inmates, to fabricate evidence suggesting Angela took her own life or framed him.

During the trial, the prosecution presented evidence, including hospital security footage showing Craig with a syringe before entering his wife's room. After administering the poison, he allegedly texted a fellow dentist with whom he was having an affair. Craig did not testify, and his defense suggested Angela may have died by suicide, criticizing the police for focusing solely on him.

Craig now faces life in prison without parole, with sentencing expected soon.
