Akron Mayor Shammas Malik is back with a new proposal for ordering a police use-of-force policy review.
An earlier proposal from the mayor was rejected by the city council.
This time around, the mayor says he is addressing concerns about the cost of such a review and the way in which consultants are selected.
The new plan has an estimated cost of $350,000 versus the previous plan's estimated cost of $640,000.
Malik also says that the University of Akron's Department of Criminal Studies would be subcontracted to take part in the review.
Council's Public Safety Committee is considering the proposal.
