Attorneys for Norfolk Southern are heading to federal court today to argue that they should not be solely responsible for paying a class action settlement to those affected by the 2023 East Palestine train derailment.

Toxic chemicals were released and burned following the incident in Columbiana County.

A $600 million settlement has been agreed upon in this matter, but Norfolk Southern maintains that both the company that owned the railcars and the manufacturer of the leaking chemicals should share the costs.
