Authorities are sharing the identity of a suspect fatally shot early Sunday morning by Ravenna Police.
Officers had been dispatched to an apartment on Hazen Street after a caller reported finding someone sleeping on the floor with a gun.
After a first encounter with the man -- since identified as 48-year-old Shawn Ware -- police say he then tried to leave the apartment while using someone else as a human shield.
When the hostage broke free, Ware reportedly took aim at officers with what later turned out to be a BB gun.
Officers opened fire and Ware died at the scene.
