A report released yesterday says the use of force by an Akron Police officer during a 2024 traffic stop was excessive.

Twin brothers Dorrell Battles and Terrell Battles were pulled over near Wildwood and East Avenues and Dorrell was charged with driving under suspension.

According to the report, after Terrell Battles asked why officers were asking for his ID when it was his brother who was driving, Terrell was dragged out of the vehicle, pushed to the ground, and punched multiple times.

The report released yesterday by the Office of the Independent Police Auditor says that Terrell Battles' actions were non-compliant but not physically threatening.
