With high temperatures projected to be in the 20s for the coming week, the City of Akron is preparing to expand the hours at the Summit Lake Community Center.
The community center on West Crosier Street will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. from January 5th through January 10th as it serves as a warming center for those needing shelter from the cold.
Mayor Shammas Malik says those hours and dates will be extended if need be.
