The City of Akron is giving away another round of free Ring Doorbell cameras.
The city is giving away a total of 3,000 cameras in an effort to make the city safer, as the cameras will allow residents to voluntarily turn over footage of suspicious or criminal activity to police.
Funding for the cameras comes from the American Rescue Plan Act.
As of now, the city has given away 74% of the cameras.
Starting next week, applications will open for the remaining cameras but will be limited to residents who live in Ward One, Ward Three, and Ward Five.
