BOE Approves Cost-Saving Plan To Cut 285 Employee Positions From APS

The Akron Public Schools Board of Education has voted to approve a cost-cutting measure that will eliminate 285 employee positions from the district.

Superintendent Michael Robinson introduced the plan recently to cut 24 million dollars in spending.

Board members gave the plan a green light last night by a vote of 5 to 1.

District employees who will lose their jobs have already received a preliminary notification and will soon receive official word.
