The search for a new Akron police chief is over.
Mayor Shammas Malik on Friday announced that Brian Harding, who has been serving as interim chief, will now have the job outright.
Harding is a 28-year veteran of the Akron Police Department.
A swearing-in ceremony is expected to be held next week.
