Garfield CLC Students Planning Demonstration

Students at Garfield Community Learning Center are planning a demonstration for today to show their support of teachers.

Akron Public Schools Superintendent Michael Robinson has outlined a cost-cutting measure that would mean the elimination of 285 employee positions from the district.

That would include sixty-six classroom positions, fifty-eight non-classroom positions, and 77 noncertified substitute teaching positions.

Garfield CLC students are planning to walk out of classes today at 3 p.m. in a demonstration of their support of educators.

The school board is expected to vote on the cost-cutting plan this week.
