Akron Mayor Shammas Malik has voiced his pick to be the city's next police chief.
A press release issued yesterday says that Deputy Chief Brian Harding has the mayor's backing.
Harding has served as the interim police chief since the retirement of former chief Steve Mylett.
Residents will have a chance to meet Harding, ask questions, and voice their opinions at a pair of upcoming town halls.
The first is this Saturday at Buchtel CLC and the second will be next Tuesday at East CLC.
