President Biden will travel to East Palestine, Ohio next month about a year after a train derailment spilled toxic chemicals into the community.
The White House says Biden will meet with residents impacted by the Norfolk Southern train derailment and assess recovery efforts.
The derailment last year ignited a dayslong fire that released poisonous fumes and forced people to evacuate their homes.
Biden has faced criticism over his decision not to immediately visit the town in the aftermath of the incident, despite promises by the White House he would visit the area.
