The maker of Purell hand sanitizer is announcing that it is staying in Akron, but some workers are being laid off.
GOJO Industries says it is eliminating some salaried positions which make up less than ten percent of its workforce, due to a decline in demand for its products after a surge during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The company also says that it is no longer considering selling the business, despite earlier reports from the Wall Street Journal that said the company was up for sale.
Back in 2021, the company signed a 20-year lease to stay in Akron.
