Maria Menounos has revealed they had a secret battle with pancreatic cancer earlier this year. She was diagnosed with a stage 2 pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor after experiencing abdominal pain along with severe leg cramps. She also revealed she was expecting a baby at the time via surrogate.
“All I could think was that I have a baby coming,” she said. She underwent surgery to remove a tumor, part of her pancreas, her spleen, a large fibroid, and 17 lymph nodes. Her husband, Keven Undergaro, stayed with her throughout her procedure.
Menounos now feels grateful and lucky that her cancer was caught early, and she won't need chemotherapy or additional treatment. “I’m going to appreciate having [my daughter] in my life so much more than I would have before this journey.” This health scare follows the removal of a benign brain tumor six years ago.
