Four children who went missing during a blizzard in Alaska have been found. The kids, identified as 14-year-old Christopher Johnson, 8-year-old Frank Johnson, 7-year-old Ethan Camille, and 2-year-old Trey Camille, were located more than 24 hours after they went missing. The kids were "cold, hungry and tired," and were taken to the hospital where they are being treated for severe hypothermia.
The four siblings went out for a quick snowmachine ride and were expected to return home around 1 p.m. local time on Sunday (February 2). When the kids did not make it back, their parents became worried as the weather conditions outside were deteriorating.
They called authorities, who organized search teams to look for the four kids. The Coast Guard and the Army National Guard launched helicopters, while volunteers from neighboring villages searched on the ground in the middle of the blizzard.
They searched until 1 a.m. but had to stop for the night due to the poor weather conditions and lack of visibility.
Rescuers continued to search once the sun came up and finally found the kids more than 24 hours after they went missing. The kids managed to find shelter about 18 miles south of their village and were located by one of the ground teams. They radioed for a helicopter, and the children were rushed to the nearest hospital.
While the kids were suffering from hypothermia, they were otherwise unharmed and are expected to make a full recovery.
