Nearly one year after an Akron police officer shot and killed 15-year-old Jazmir Tucker, Tucker's family is filing suit against the city.
Police were investigating the sounds of gunfire when Officer Davon Fields encountered Tucker last Thanksgiving.
Fields says he shot Tucker after the boy reached for a gun, and a firearm was later found in a zipped pocket of the teen's jacket.
Tucker was shot twice in the back and once in the arm.
Tucker's family is filing suit in federal court alleging that systemic misconduct and racial bias contributed to his death.
