Sydney Powell -- convicted in the murder of her mother -- is receiving relief from the courts.
The Ninth District Appeals Court on Thursday overturned Powell's 2023 conviction on charges of murder and felonious assault.
In March 2020, Brenda Powell died after being stabbed with a steak knife in her Akron home by her daughter and repeatedly hit in the head with a cast-iron skillet.
The appeals court yesterday stated that Sydney Powell was denied her right to present rebuttal testimony at trial as her attorney argued that his client was not guilty because of insanity.
Powell -- who had been sentenced to life in prison -- faces the possibility of a second trial.
