Ohio Governor Mike DeWine is sending the state patrol to keep an eye on schools in Springfield after more than 30 bomb threats since last week.
The threats are linked to unfounded allegations from former President Trump and his running mate, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, that Haitian immigrants are eating people's cats and dogs in the city.
Two colleges moved to virtual learning and two elementary schools were evacuated Monday.
The threats so far have all been baseless but troopers will be dispatched to all 17 buildings in the local school district.
DeWine said some of the threats are coming from one particular country, which he declined to name.
The city also canceled a planned arts and culture festival scheduled for later this month.
