An Akron firefighter is suing the city and the fire department, claiming he has been the victim of age, gender, and racial discrimination.
Fifty-seven-year-old Capt. Michael Haas, who is white, says he was passed over for a promotion to deputy chief in favor of a younger, Black, female candidate.
According to Haas' lawsuit, the city did not provide him with a legitimate, non-discriminatory reason for not receiving the promotion.
