Akron Public Schools Board of Education has received 20 applications to fill a vacant seat.
The seat became vacant last month when board member Job Esau Perry resigned after accepting a position as a part-time magistrate.
The school board says it will meet this Saturday in an executive session to narrow down the applicants to a group of people who will be interviewed.
