Amazingly, a lot of people apparently think Maine is in Canada.
Residents of the state have numerous stories of having to explain that they’re from America and not a foreign country.
One was asked for a passport when boarding a plane from Denver to Bangor (which is in Maine, which is a part of the U.S. and which became a state in 1820).
It could be worse…there’s been discussion on TikTok for years that doesn’t question if Maine is a state, but questions if it’s even real. No, really.
