Were All Going To Be Rich!

Posted April 22nd, 2014 @ 1:24pm

SUMMIT COUNTY RESIDENTS WILL SEE some of their tax dollars going to non union employees...maybe!  A few weeks back a fact finder decided that the county could afford to award raises to union employees.  It is county policy to give non union employees a raise if union workers get one.  The union workers got a 1.5% increase and now council is pondering a raise for the non union workers.  We'll know by next Tuesday.  The amount of money involved in the latest raises?  Just a shade more than half a million dollars.

HOLY SMOKES, BE STILL MY HEART.  I learned today that some savings and loans are offering a 1.00% APY for a 19 month CD.  I DO remember when you could get an interest rate of 6 or 7%, and it wasn't that long ago.  Oh were all going to be rich.

SOME PEOPLE REALLY DON'T KNOW HOW to celebrate Easter.  Over the past weekend, two people died of a heroin overdose.  One on north hill and another in Kenmore.  Others also overdosed but lived.  I was young but do remember heroin in the 60's, I just don't remember if it was as deadly then as it is now.

DON'T KNOW IF YOU'VE FOLLOWED THE story concerning Kent States' search for a new president, but apparently they conducted their search in secrecy.  You're not supposed to do it that way (after all, a State University is required by law to be an open book).  Yesterday, the students who write for The Daily Kent Stater ask management to open all records concerning the search process.  Others have also been calling for an accounting of who got what.  This has been going on for quite some time.  You don't think they're hiding something, do you?
