MUCH HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND, so no excuses for sitting home...
TWO STAGE SHOWS PREMIER TODAY! At the Actors Summit inside Greystone Hall in downtown Akron, It's "Ring of Fire", and if you know anything about American music, you know this performance features the music of Johnny Cash. JC truly was an American treasure, and I'll probably see you down there sometime before the show closes on May 25. The curtain also goes up tonight at the Weathervane Playhouse in the valley. "Don't Dress For Dinner" is a comedy, but I have no idea if it will make you laugh...don't know the show at all. Tickets and info for Actors Summit at www.actorssummit.org, and for Weathervane it's www.weathervaneplayhouse.com.
ROCK AND ROLLERS WILL WANT TO make the short trip to Kent tomorrow night for one of my all time favorites...Peter Wolf! If you remember the J.Geils Band, you know Wolf. He also recorded a few solo CD's in the late 80's that I found as good (if not better) than his work with J.Geils. The venue is the Kent Stage and info is available at www.thekentstage.com.
YUKS ARE PLENTIFUL THIS WEEKEND! The Funny Stop Comedy Club in Cuyahoga Falls features headliner Nick Vatterott all weekend, while Lisa Lampanelli, the loveable "Queen of Mean" will take the stage for two shows Friday night at The Tangier. Tickets and information for Vatterott at www.funnystop.com, and for Lampanelli it's www.thetangier.com.
