Couple In Need Wins Free New Car

It’s been a rough go for Johnny and Courtney Gazoo lately. The Pensacola, Florida, couple have been sharing a car with Courtney’s mother, taking turns using it to get to work and to school so Johnny can finish getting his degree. But that all changed when the Gazoos were surprised with the keys to a brand-new car.

Nominated to receive the car through Step One Automotive's Driving Opportunity Giveaway in partnership with United Way, last Friday the Gazoos were picked up by a limo and taken to Step One Automotive in Fort Walton Beach, where they were greeted by a red carpet and a crew from United Way. The giveaway, in its second year, aims to make a difference in the lives of families in need.

The Gazoo’s new car is valued at nearly $25-thousand and comes with a two-year warranty. Johnny says the gift will allow him to take summer classes at Pensacola State College and finish his computer programming degree early. Fort Walton Beach Mayor Dick Ryenearson, members of United Way Emerald Coast, West Florida, and Okaloosa County Commissioner Carolyn Ketchel were all at the event to help congratulate the lucky couple.
